Press Release:
ebXML Adopts Logistical's Resource and Contract Model

Minneapolis, MN, August 31, 2000: ebXML, the United Nations sponsored global standard for electronic business over the Internet, has adopted Logistical Software's model for Resources and Contracts.

The Resources and Contracts design is a key section of ebXML. Resources include products, materials, services and financial instruments. Contracts include long term contracts, releases, purchase and sales orders.

The Resources and Contracts section contains all of the business semantics of ebXML - it is the framework for ebXML to integrate with internal business systems.

The Resource and Contracts design is based on REA - a framework for economic business modeling. REA stands for Resources, Events and Agents. Logistical has been the driving force in extending REA for business-to-business collaboration. The result was the ebXML Resources and Contracts model.

Members of the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI) have announced plans to use ebXML as the backbone of their new data exchange standard for business- to-business trade in the consumer goods industry. GCI members include 40 major manufacturers and retailers as well as eight trade associations, which in total represent 850,000 companies.

“It is clear to us that ebXML will soon become the standard for all global trade.” said Peter Jordan, director of European systems for Kraft Foods and member of the GCI Board of Directors.
